There is no one low carb diet. Essentially, popular low carb plans cut out most food with sugars, white flour (pasta, bread, cake, donuts, etc), white rice and potatoes. This effectively cuts back on the amount of carbohydrates in your diet. In opposition, there are white foods (tofu, cauliflower, onions, ...) that are low in carbs and valid for a low carb diet.
